Enceladus in some versions is a dragon-like creature, in others described as simply 'a giant' with a serpentine lower body. He has dragon-like capabilities and frightened even the Greek titans. When finally he fell (some say Athena brought him down with a spear, others say Zeus) he was buried under Mount Aetna Sicily. The volcano rumblings are meant to be Enceladus stirring with his spear injury, and when Aetna erupts, it is Enceladus spewing forth his firey breath.
